The Horse & Hound is committed to simple, American elegance. Guest rooms are furnished with solid maple furniture hand made by local craftsmen in North Haverill, New Hampshire. Linens and towels are all-cotton. Winter blankets are 100% wool manufactured by Pendleton in the United States. Window shades are custom made at the Alameda Shade Shop in the San Francisco Bay area and ceiling fixtures are solid brass, hand made at Rejuvenation Lighting in Portland, Oregon. All bathrooms have new tile floors replicating a 1940’s style. Many have original American Standard fixtures refurbished for another century of use.
High speed Internet is available throughout the building. However, rooms are intentionally free of electronics. Guests often remark on the unusually restful sleep they experience in these tasteful, understated surroundings. Air conditioning is provided in the warmer months.
Breakfast is included in the cost of lodging. Selections change with the seasons and may include fresh baked goods, egg dishes, fruit, homemade granola and yogurt.

Check-in: 3:00-6:00 p.m. If arriving before 3:00 p.m. or after 6:00 p.m., please contact the inn for specifics regarding check-in. Early check-in may not be available without prior notice.
Check-out: 11:00 a.m. Guests are welcome to remain at the inn following check-out to enjoy the building and grounds.
Deposits: Credit card details are requested at the time of reservation to hold your room. The card will be charged and receipt available at check-in. See cancellation policy below.

Cancellations: New COVID-19 policy. Cancellations made directly with us, may be made up until the day of arrival with no penalty until Friday, September 4 (Labor Day weekend) with no penalty. Beginning Labor Day weekend, cancellations must be made at least 7 days prior to arrival to avoid a cancellation fee equal to one night’s stay, unless the room can be rented. Guests who arrive after the reservation start date, or depart prior to the reservation end date, are responsible for the entire reserved period.
Minimum Stay: A minimum two-night stay is required during holiday weekends (including President’s Day weekend, Memorial Day weekend, 4th of July weekend, Labor Day weekend and Columbus Day weekend) and Fall Foliage season (mid-September to mid-October). Room rates during Fall Foliage increase by $30 per night.
Children & Pets: The inn is not suitable for children under age 12 or pets.
No smoking: The entire building and grounds are strictly smoke-free.
